Hua Li, Ph.D.

Quantum Application Scientist, Professional Services

Hua received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Clemson University, his doctoral research was focused on developing numerical methods for Multiphysics modeling and simulations, in which he proposed new algorithms to improve the computing performance of existing methods. He has held various industrial roles in the past, including working as a backend software development engineer for cloud-based web applications, as an optimization engineer for vehicle system designs using genetic algorithms and machine learning, and as a technical consultant for mechanical engineering designs using numerical analysis.

Question & Answer

Why have you chosen a career in quantum?

By virtue of the continued increase in computing power, the technologies and applications that were economically prohibitive and computationally constrained in the past can be realized, which help to shape the new ways of living. I am intrigued by how far quantum computing can push the computational limit in the future.

What is a problem you dream of solving (with quantum)?

Use quantum computing to find the solutions of differential equations in computational fluid dynamics.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Others may call you a dreamer, but you are not the only one.
