CDL Quantum partners with Zapata Computing for access to Orquestra

Startups in CDL Quantum will accelerate their progress with free access to Orquestra, the most extensive quantum software toolset available today

Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management is pleased to announce a technology collaboration with Zapata Computing to give CDL Quantum Stream ventures access to its quantum operating environment, Orquestra. As part of this collaboration, CDL ventures will receive access to Orquestra for building quantum and machine learning workflows and running them on quantum simulators integrated into Orquestra.

“We are excited to share Orquestra with the CDL Quantum community to accelerate these startups’ development. They are doing important work that pushes what’s possible in quantum machine learning, optimization and beyond—and Orquestra gives them power tools to make their visions real,” says Tim Hirzel, Zapata’s Chief Product Officer.

For the last three years, CDL has operated a stream that develops startups at the forefront of quantum computing. To date, CDL has supported over 70 ventures on their startup journey into the quantum ecosystem.

“We are pleased to onboard Zapata as one of our CDL Quantum Technology Partners – our first partner to provide a software-first solution to our quantum startups. We anticipate that our founders will be able to more rapidly build and iterate their applications as a result,” noted Sonia Sennik, Executive Director at Creative Destruction Lab.

CDL Quantum brings together entrepreneurs, investors, AI experts, leading quantum information researchers, and quantum hardware companies to build ventures in the nascent domain of quantum machine learning and quantum optimization. The stream offers a robust set of resources for new founders to launch and scale a startup in the quantum ecosystem:

• Business Guidance and Investor Access – Objective-setting meetings with the CDL Fellows and Associates, a group of highly successful entrepreneurs and investors with expertise in scaling high-tech startups, world-leading scientists and industry leaders in quantum technologies.
• Capital – Opportunities to raise capital from angel investors and top-tier venture capital firms.
• Quantum Access – Quantum computing resources from technology partners.
• Technical Education – 4-week technical quantum bootcamp, where potential founders learn the necessary technical and business skills via in-person lectures, practical exercises, one-on-one office hours and a two-day, multi-platform Quantum hackathon.
• Business Support – Guidance on strategy and business development from top students and faculty from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.

Zapata Computing joins CDL Quantum’s four technology partners that provide quantum computing resources to participating ventures in the program: D-Wave Systems, IBM Q, Rigetti Computing and Xanadu.
